Sick of this.

I’m starting to feel slightly trapped again. I guess that’s what you get when you’re used to running everywhere. I’m tired of hitting brick walls in trying to work as an EMT, I’m tired of just scraping by, and I’m just tired. The fact that I’ve got some sort of sinus infection allergy sore throat whatever probably doesn’t help. So I am actually sick. In other news, I put my CV online. Still going to India. Taking photos as an official FGC Gathering photographer, while still working with kids at said Gathering. Trying to figure out what the HELL I’m going to do for a place to live in three weeks or so.

I’m a drifter, a driftin’ drifter
Got no place to call my home no more
I’m a wanderer, a wandering wanderer
Got no one to call my own no more

Got no strings to tie me down
Got no cause to hang around
What difference does it make which way I go
Got an empty feelin’ down inside
Still I need to stay alive
And who can tell what waits beyond this road
I’m a drifter, a driftin’ drifter
Got no one to call my own no more

I wasn’t going to post anything for Valentine’s Day.

However, this may be the cutest thing I’ve seen in a minute or two. That plus blue sky started my day off right. It gets even better with the remixes available over at Missingtoof. Not mad at that, as we like to say. Anyway, I have a feeling I’m going to be delivering a lot of rush jobs from florists today. Guess we’ll see.

Oh, and the ferret disappeared.

So I’ve been dealing with neighbors that like to climb over onto my roof deck and hang out. This includes knocking on my window while I’m sitting there in a bathrobe. That sort of thing. But I went upstairs after a workout today, and there was a ferret. It was kind of just wobbling around the deck, and it was definitely someone’s pet, because when it saw me, it tried to come inside. Which would be OK, but I don’t trust strange animals these days.

That was wierd. The weather’s been weird. Life is wierd.

a few of my favorite things

  • skiercross on TV
  • espresso ice cream
  • people releasing books for free on the internet
  • Grand Cru’s Rodelbach (beer that tastes like salad dressing)
  • working as a kourier

And now some things I’m not so much a fan of.

  • fuzzy head.
  • delays with my EMS certification
  • not skiing right now
  • termites in the ceiling
  • football being done for the season. looks like I’ll have to find another way to occupy myself on sundays.
  • not making a lot of money as a courier

That’s really all I’ve got. I saw Rambo last night, and it was surprisingly affecting. I was not particularly stoked on it, as I expected a jingoistic “Go America” action movie, and was pissed off at the promoters trying to co-opt stencil art for their ad campaign. But it’s not a particularly pro-American movie, nor does it glorify violence. It’s incredibly gory, like seeing through people’s exit wounds kind of detailed gory, but it also shows people getting freaked out by the carnage. Gave me a lot to think about. Stallone as John Rambo doesn’t particularly try to be an action hero, either, which I think is pretty classy of him.

I can’t believe I just called Sylvester Stallone classy.

i do damage without meaning it

My poor little freeside. Anyone who hangs out with me for more than about 10 minutes tends to find out that I’m pretty hard on my gear. Only two channels work fully on my DJ mixer (the result of a misplaced jungle juice), I destroy bicycle parts like I was getting paid, my right turntable only puts out both channels if it feels like it, and now my poor laptop’s left-hand side has a big dent in it. That’s what happens when you take a dive off the side of the couch onto a hardwood floor. After a quick disassembly and judicious application of force by mallet and pliers, everything seems OK (except for a slightly weird trackpad button) but I’m not really optimistic. If I suddenly disappear from the webernet for a few days, you’ll all know why now.

NYC was a lot of fun. Didn’t see Busta Rhymes, got lost a lot, and ate some pretty ridiculous food. Could not afford good beer. Thanks to Megan, Lee, and Steph for being stellar tour guides and gracious hosts.

it’s all coming together…

Motion Graphics Festival 2008

My body’s telling me I need a bit of a break, and to get refocused.

I’ve been approved to go to India with some Quakers as a photographer. Heavy stuff, more details to come. But I think that it’s a huge opportunity.
